May’s Destination Drive is an All-Day Trip on Thursday May 16,  with a chance to make it an overnighter if you like.

Our destination is Maggie Valley NC, with stops for lunch, The Wheels Through Time Museum, and lastly the Waterrock Knob — that’s the All-Day Trip.

Maggie Valley is around 130 miles from Tellico Village and roughly a 2-hour 20-minute drive using Interstate 40 E. Your return trip could include the Dragon and that’s roughly 112 miles and about 2 hours 40 minutes. GPS has the routes. The return trip from Cherokee NC, using the Dragon is about 98 miles and 2 hours 20 minutes.

Lunch

The plan is to drive to Maggie Valley on your own and meet for lunch around 11:00 AM.  There are two restaurant choices (choose 1) with open seating and ordering off the menu..  Each restaurant is limited to 25 people (tickets).  Please select a restaurant for lunch so that we can notify them to prepare and staff up.

From Maggie Valley head south on US 19 towards Cherokee to take a right on the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance ramp and another right at the stop sign. The turn for Waterrock Knob will be on your left with signs to the parking lot. The Visitors Center has restrooms. There is a 1.2-mile trail you can take, otherwise there are fantastic views from the parking lot.  The drive from the museum to Waterrock is approximately 15 minutes.
